And now for something completely different. Sometimes (sometimes being, for example, last night at 1:00 am), I'm all alone and feeling pathetic. In the case of last night, I wasn't tired and I wasn't busy. It's a bad combination when your friends are out partying it up and you're in your bedroom trying to have a life. I promise. Not all hope is lost. When found in this lackluster situation, I plan to revert to the list found below.
7 Ways to go from Feeling like the last noodle that got stuck to the pan after you drain the pasta and didnt make it into the bowl to actually getting eaten first. (makes sense right?)
- Music. I swear your jam can fix anything. For me, its a little Motown, a little Dubstep, and some hardcore Beethoven. I swear, if you play it loud and let everything else fade, life gets better. It just does.
- Ice Cream. It really can define the way you feel at that moment. It's cold and refreshing, clearing the head of fuzzy, pathetic thoughts. It's delicious. It's cold. It's delicious. It's cold, and did I mention it's delicious? Thought so.
- Look at pictures from the past. (Though steer clear of pictures of anyone deceased, angry, or vastly more attractive than you. these are just happiness killers.) You might feel a little sentimental looking at photographs of your friend's 10th birthday, or the first time you rode a bike, but all in all I find it generally a good laugh and a heart warming experience.
- This American Life. Good radio can really turn you around. Listening to a story well told and reflecting upon it takes you out of your shell and gets you thinking bigger picture.
- Hot Shower. No explanation needed, right?
- Make stupid noises, call your friends and pretend you are drunk out of your mind, do arts and crafts, and feel like a freak because you probably are one. I think we all have a weird side and it feels super fun to unleash it sometimes.
- Work on something productive. I know this is crazy sounding- work when you're trying to have fun?? But honestly from my observations, humans like to see accomplishment. They like to look back and say. I got something done, I'm not a waste of space. So just take an hour and do some of that college app.
